Nice. Thanks, Heidi.

Note: While I think this cartoon has some good, playful ideas packed into it, I don’t have a fancy for all that he does. It can be quite negative about the church proper, and the postmodern “whine” can be tiring.

Enjoy this one.

Laughter is good medicine. Thanks. As humurous as it is, there is a certain amount of reality expressed in the illustration/drawing. We do need to be ready and prepared for some situations, and to a certain degree there are expectations placed on us to be ready and prepared for all situations.

  2. I’ve dipped in and out of this site and there are some truly inspired cartoons by a a very talented artist. However,it tends to get very negative, very regularly, about the church, without providing any positive solution. And that bothers me. I like it when we question but we need to encourage as well its all about balance. Maybe I’m just getting old.

  3. I’d better qualify..by , “this site” I mean Asbo Jesus not Dan’s wonerful, life giving, positive site :D

  4. Randy,

You are right, there is some good stuff in there. It is my first time checking out Asbo Jesus. And as a first timer, I thought it was hilarious. It’s good to make fun of ourselves from time to time.

I would add a tambourine. Every true worshipper must have one to whip out when people least expect it.

  5. Graeme,

I first saw that picture, & thought it was funny, so I checked out more of the site. And I agree with you, there’s a lot of negative posts about the church… It’s kind of sad to think that this is how a lot of people view Christians… it’s always about what we HAVE to do and be, and not what we GET to do and be…

  6. Michael, and I would add that its a real shame because the guy is really talented and speaks some truth. If we ask these questions and vent our frustrations (which it is right to do) through the filter of recognizing our own brokenness, having grace for it in others and with an attitude of humility then its much better.

  7. Yes, guys, the one I posted is playful, maybe should have a tambourine, but I do find the overall tenor of other things he does quite negative about the church.

I posted this as a one off, as it gives a bit of warning about faddish approaches to the integration of the old, current, new and quirky.

I may put a qualifier in the post above just to alert my readers to the one-off this is.

  8. I agree that the tambourine is missing. Definitely a required element for that quiet moment where that external outburst of accompaniment is invaluable.

  9. ummmm

do you guys know that’s a cartoon of his best mate jonny baker? it’s not a statement on the general state of the church.

    just thought you should know…
