Good friend and artist Judith Brannen sent me this today:

I said to the man
who stood at the gate of the year
“Give me a light
that I may tread safely
into the unknown.”
And he replied-
“Go out into the Darkness
and put your hand into
the hand of God.
That shall be to you better
than light and safer than
a known way.”

-M.L. Haskins; quoted by His Majesty the King in an Empire Broadcast
(date unknown)

How rich.

  1. Empire you say?! – Wot wot wot!?!
    Bravo!!! :D

  2. Actually, it was spoken as part of a New Year’s day address, during the early years of World War I… when the darkness seemed truly limitless.

    Still relevant.
