hey dan, totally un-related to your post, since I am feeling quite the opposite of cynical at the moment. I just wanted to say have fun at freefall tomorrow night (or tonight.. since it’s quarter to 4am). Wow, did you read my mind today? I was scolding myself for being too cynical. I get what you mean, and you’re right, but I’m sure the opposite is just as bad. Don’t those eyes that are always seeking what is precious and beautiful also often fail to see what is false, and lead to complacency – turning a blind eye and glossing over things that are wrong. Both ways are a “false substitute for proper Christian anger, lament and faithful action”, but at least cynicism is honest about it.
