One of my favorite young visual artists, who happens to be a friend and SSU alum, is giving an art show in the Halifax, Nova Scotia area of our country (about 6 hours from us).
Her renderings of faces and personalities of spaces is lovely, and speaks of a strong soul moving others in her creative wake. Check in.
Most of you know who Louie is, the founder of the Passion movement and conferences. Gathering thousands of university students across the globe, Louie is one of our most powerful communicators of biblical truth to this age group.
Now here is my “resourcer’s dream” site for creating ongoing, accessible and usable versions of hymns for contemporary usage. We’re building a catalogue ourselves as well; I’m pleased that these guys have done such a good job.
Hope this serves the ancient-reclaiming vision of worship the Church in your community.
A bit of a “stark” bunch of guys, questioning everything and possibly spinning their faith wheels and providing mud for others to spin in, but their graphics and scathing wit must be complimented.
They play mockery with the Emergent movement, even more missional Church ideas, but in a way that is graphically playful and at moments, “punch you in the gut” accurate.
In the spirit of “we learn as much from what we disagree with as from what we agree with,” visit these verbal/graphic pummeljacks.
It’s not a site for the faint of mind, but if you’re thinking about the state of the Church in a postmodern world, you may appreciate their provocative little world.
Ah, the joy of stomp in the street, sticks in the stairwell, sting in the station. Fellow percussionists, enjoy the ride.
I don’t know much about this fellow human being, but I thought this little subway clip was worth a show.
Art is bustling all around us, all within us, all bright leaps of glory jumping from our souls like solar flares, touching and setting on fire those who come close enough to be fired by the lick of our unique flame. Ah, Creator, thank you for rhythm.
Good friend Jason Clark, leader of Emergent UK, and Paul Mayers have begun a blog that I think will speak along a via affirmativa (the affirmative way) in the conversations today on ideas vital to reimagining our life together in the world as followers of Jesus.
Worship will get its treatment along the way, I am sure, and I think many would find this a renewing site to frequent. Drop them a comment or two to get their new concept started.
Long-time contemporary/emerging worship influencer Matt Redman now has a blog. His voice continues to be a deepening and inspiring voice to us all.
Over the years, we’ve met a number of times in a variety of places, and Matt has always shown the goodness and grace one would expect from the writer of such liminal (”threshold”) worship music.
My dear friend, fine artist Janie Reynolds (Whitelock), has just put up a new website featuring her work. Janie is an incredible talent, who was trained at the prestigious Royal College of Art and has since gone on to work for a wide range of well known clients such as Habitat, The National Trust, Good Housekeeping, Marks & Spencer – as well as illustrating a number of natural history books.
She is married to my other dear friend Chris Whitelock, who heads up Vineyard Records UK. They’ve been such a gift to me personally through the past number of years, along with their little guys Harry and Jack, and it’s my privilege to introduce you to some of Janie’s work. Janie is open to doing freelance illustration work these days, especially focused on nature and animals. Her portfolio is stunning.
Pay her a visit if you would, and leave a comment on her site.
Here are some great ideas for creatively enhancing times of encountering God in worship with a variety of sight and sense flairs. I tend to stay with candles, music and visuals, but these ideas go far and wide.

Tim Hughes and Al Gordon have blogs now, and I’m enjoying their hearts and vibrant worship life thoughts. They’re both at Holy Trinity Brompton in the UK.
I love the heart that beats behind Tim’s offerings of creativity.
Introducing the Emergent site of Canada. I’ve appreciated their posts as of late, so let’s give them some traffic over there and fuel their international fire.

A young man on a spiritual quest, a good friend and a flame of joy to his companions. He’s on a wandering of sorts at present, and his hearty gift of love will be planting in the shared soils of St. Stephen this summer. Welcome back to us, Joel. We receive you with gladness. And your hair.
This link will take you to an audio/musical journey with him over the past few months. He’s a mix of artist, leader of worship, and spiritual guide in formation.
