Bio + Contact

DAN WILT, M.MIN. has worshiped with God’s people in spaces as diverse  as the marble Polish Chapel in St. Peter’s Cathedral in Rome, in an ancient Orthodox Church on the Isle of Patmos in the Aegean Sea, and in palliative care facilities where the veil between heaven and earth is paper thin. He has worshiped with the Doxology Anthem in Wildkirchli (Wild Chapel) in the Swiss Alps, on the cliffs of An Bihn Mhór in Northern Ireland, and on the beaches of Rio de Janeiro.

As a worship leader and teacher, Dan has impacted thousands over his three decades in ministry, across diverse streams of the Church in the US, UK, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, Australia, and Brazil.

A trusted voice, Dan regularly teaches on worship, spiritual formation, creativity, and the impressive and expressive gift of adoring worship, renewing churches in their desire to see their worship gatherings as true encounters with the Father, our Creator, the Son, our Savior, and the Spirit, our Living Flame within.

With a unique passion to serve creative leaders – from worship leaders to filmmakers to illustrators to authors – Dan frames the maker’s impulse as a gift and invitation that places them at the center of faith storytelling in the 21st century. He does this through personal support, live events, media, and the Wild Pear Learning Community he leads.

Dan holds degrees in Religion and Philosophy from Messiah University in Pennsylvania, and in Classical Christian Spirituality and Formation from St. Stephen’s University in New Brunswick, Canada. He has served on the faculty of St. Stephen’s University, as an adjunct at Wesley Seminary of Indiana Wesleyan University, and as a seminar educator and consultant with Campbellsville University (KY) and Lee University (TN). Dan is currently pursuing doctoral studies with the Institute For Worship Studies in Jacksonville, FL.

He lives with his wife, Anita, in Thompson’s Station, TN (near Nashville), and enjoys life with their three adult children, Anna, Abigail, and Benjamin.

Video | Sanctus (Heaven And Earth) | UK WL Retreat 2018

I’ve had the privilege of leading worship for 30+ years now, and it remains one of the greatest privileges of my life.

This 4-section Sanctus (Heaven And Earth) is one part of an extended Communion/Eucharist worship experience I wrote and designed to combine formational elements of participatory, Spirit-inviting, ancient-future, Christ-centered worship. It draws on gifts from a few different traditions. It has been a fun few years shaping it, designing it, and drawing on content from many streams.

The Vineyard Worship UK & Ireland worship leaders gave their hearts to this particular moment in the session, and the Holy Spirit moved the room and drew us deeply into Christ. While moments like this are unique, have-to-be-there moments co-designed with those present in the room (I learned this many years ago from a Native American Christian; “The shared moment is the shared moment”), sometimes sharing pieces of glistening moments-in-time like this can encourage all of us on the worship journey.

Each time it is done, it is unique, one-of-a-kind, and non-reproducible. This is its beauty, and it’s joy. The whole experience is led in collaboration with artists, and Joff Alexander-Frye on ambient guitar, Daniel Whisnant on visual elements/photographic design, and Jodie Jones doing readings added so much to the liminal (threshold) space created.

Heaven and Earth are full of Your Glory, O God! Hosanna in the highest! #Sanctus #Communion #Eucharist #AncientFuture
