This morning in the shower, the shampoo bottle slipped from my hands and fell to the ground.

It bounced.

It didn’t shatter, though it would have had it been made of glass. It didn’t crack, though it would have had it been made of harder material.

It bounced.

Intelligent design.

Blood rushes from the head, and the human body faints. Falling to the ground, gravity aids the vivifying blood in flowing back to the brain.

An open wound becomes a quick gathering place for platelets, white blood cells and other microscopic healers with seeming minds of their own. Over time, healing and purifying works occur in the now secured location. If there is any infection within, the body will radiate pain and push the infection toward the surface in an effort to expel the foreign parasites.

Sleep well tonight. Go dormant for at least 6-8 hour so your body can rejuvenate and refresh its muscles, mind and microbia.

Sheltering Mercy: Prayers Inspired by the Psalms

Sheltering Mercy, along with its companion volume, Endless Grace, helps us rediscover the rich treasures of the Psalms—through free-verse prayer renderings of their poems and hymns—as a guide to personal devotion and meditation.

The church has always used the Psalms as part of its prayer life, and they have inspired countless other prayers. This book contains 75 prayers drawn from Psalms 1-75, providing lyrical sketches of what authors Ryan Smith and Dan Wilt have seen, heard, and felt while sojourning in the Psalms. Each prayer is a response to the Psalms written in harmony with Scripture. These prayers help us quiet our hearts before God and welcome us into a safe place amid the storms of life.

This artful, poetic, and classic devotional book features compelling custom illustrations and foil-stamped hardcover binding, offering a fresh way to reflect on and pray the Psalms.
