Brenton Brown and Don Moen: Friends In The Round and On The Water

front-sail-rigging-closeHere’s a bit of free training from two very dear friends of mine, Brenton Brown and Don Moen. We’re actively broadening our voice at WorshipTraining.com, with a big announcement coming soon, to touch ALL spectrums of the contemporary and emerging Church.

Brenton and Don are part of our expansive Contributing Friends network at WorshipTraining.com.

After the vids, I want to highlight a unique, roundtable event with them both, as that is what I love to do with our Contributing Friends. Robin Mark and Lenny Leblanc (I worked at the Kingdom Bound, New York event with Lenny – an amazing writer and musician) will be there, too. Make sure you enjoy the vid clips, and then take in the ON THE WATER fun below. There is a special deal for anyone who has been in ESSENTIALS!

I’m up for getting out of large auditoriums for training events!

  • Don Moen is a father’s/older brother’s voice of wisdom in the contemporary and emerging worship world. He is also a great personal friend of mine with a passion to see worship leaders of different generations, experience and worldviews related to worship come back to the essence of their calling.
  • Brenton Brown is a great friend and beautiful soul, and has written some of the most inspiring and formative worship songs of our day. He contributes to our contemporary worship experience with theologically rich, and thoughtfully crafted, worship songs.

Here is a teaching clip from Don from an interview he and I did recently, on Being Yourself as a worship leader, and one with Brenton on Theology And Worship Leadership.

NOW WE’RE TALKIN’:
WORSHIP ROUNDTABLE MEETS A POWER VACATION ON THE WATER

How’s this for a change from what you usually hear from me? You’ll see me begin to highlight events hosted by our wide range of Contributing Friends, from all spectrums of the 21st century Church. The ancients Celts would be thrilled to hear that worship happens out on the water!

In the interest of getting worship training out of the world of auditoriums and church buildings (fine places for it to be), I wanted to let my blog friends know about a special opportunity for you to spend a week on the Eastern Caribbean with some amazing worship leaders and voices of wisdom in the worship story. Seriously – a very cool trip with some meat in the middle of the fun. Don’t dis a cruise – you only have one life to live!

If I could go, AND take my wife, I would. Don Moen has brought together some of his worship influencing friends for a once-in-a-lifetime cruise – an amazing week of worship, training and relaxation.

Here’s the brief  with copy written by the event organizers:

Don Moen, Brenton Brown, Robin Mark, and Lenny LeBlanc, along with other talented musicians, lead a fantastic week of worship and training for you.

During the cruise, you will travel aboard the MS EURODAM, Holland America’s newest and most luxurious ship, to islands in the Caribbean, Puerto Rico, and the Bahamas, where you can shop, deep sea fish, dive, snorkel and, of course, relax on some of the most beautiful beaches in the world! In addition to the breath taking scenery, the cruise is designed to encourage spiritual renewal.  Each day will offer opportunities for devotions on the water, as well as concerts featuring your favorite worship leaders.

Our friends at Christian Musicians Summit will be hosting CMS ON THE WATER, a series of 8 workshops during the week addressing topics like:

  • team development,
  • visual worship,
  • guitar,
  • vocals,
  • drums,
  • keys,
  • songwriting and more – for just $99.

Also, for a limited time, we are offering Essentials Course and WorshipTraining.com users a unique, FREE, limited time opportunity to attend a private IN THE ROUND with Brenton Brown, Robin Mark, Lenny LeBlanc, and Don Moen. This special offer will grant you an insider’s view of the songwriting process, as well as the chance to hear the stories behind the songs.  Also included will be an opportunity to take a “behind-the-scenes” look before an evening concert of how Media Shout will be used that night, best practices during worship services, and how you can do the same things in your churches.

To join Don, Robin, Lenny, Brenton, Chris Sligh, and Aaron Shust on this special cruise, call 1-800-247-1899, or visit www.DonMoen.com/cruise for more information.  Please mention the code SEPT-TRAINING1 when you sign up so that you’ll be included in the private IN THE ROUND and pre-concert Media Shout workshop at no additional charge.

To register for the CMS ON THE WATER workshop during the event, call 253-655-5000.

Dan here again – I’d encourage any of you to go who can. My goodness, can you really NOT go on a cruise before you die? I should think not.

Sheltering Mercy: Prayers Inspired by the Psalms

Sheltering Mercy, along with its companion volume, Endless Grace, helps us rediscover the rich treasures of the Psalms—through free-verse prayer renderings of their poems and hymns—as a guide to personal devotion and meditation.

The church has always used the Psalms as part of its prayer life, and they have inspired countless other prayers. This book contains 75 prayers drawn from Psalms 1-75, providing lyrical sketches of what authors Ryan Smith and Dan Wilt have seen, heard, and felt while sojourning in the Psalms. Each prayer is a response to the Psalms written in harmony with Scripture. These prayers help us quiet our hearts before God and welcome us into a safe place amid the storms of life.

This artful, poetic, and classic devotional book features compelling custom illustrations and foil-stamped hardcover binding, offering a fresh way to reflect on and pray the Psalms.
